Being grazed isn’t going to leave a huge scar especially with reconstructive surgery but someone getting part of their ear bitten and spit out on the floor will. Then you have to factor in the fact that if his ear was struck enough to cause visible damage he would be dead too. A bullet traveling at 3000 km hr at a distance of 150yrds with a piece of flesh obstructing its path... you're claiming wouldn't leave significant scaring. If a bullet traveled at that velocity rate that close to the face, you would see significant bruising, burns if not open abrasion's.
