Fun stuff! I caught most of mine on a perch colored floating Rapala, but that might not work everywhere. Glad to see you out there “ripping lips” as my Father-in-Law would say :-)

Rapalas are some of my favorite lures, I actually caught this one on an older Heddon Hula Popper. Bought a bunch of Rapalas before I left and only caught a bass on a silver Rapala X-Rap
I caught about 17 bass in total while I was up there :)

Catching fish on the surface is a lot of fun. I also fly fish for bass and panfish, and for that I usually tie on poppers or floating flies. Same reason… top water action! I’m glad to see you enjoying something that has been part of my life for so long. The picture I just used was still in my phone from when I was fishing with my friend, he wanted to know what I was using. I offered it to him, but he settled for a picture. I have spares of some of my favorites in case I launch one into a tree, lmao!

I got the same lure right before I left in silver! Didn't catch anything on it, but I found that the lake this year tended to have fish only biting topwater and nightcrawlers for the most part. So much for the jigs, spinners, etc that I bought lol.
Now that I know that topwaters work, I know that I need to get a ton of them lol. Stay well :)

I have favorite lures for certain lakes, like the “magic” Rapala that works so well in one lake, didn’t do much at all in the Poconos. Over the years I have also scaled back on my tackle. I have my favorites, and I also have specialty stuff, like for Muskie’s, lol.
