Which is concerning given the GOP are trying to dismantle the educational system. Perhaps there is more meaning to Trump’s statement of, “I love the poorly educated.”

Or maybe the schools should get back to the basics... their test scores are even worse now compared to the rest of the world...

Democrat policy and domination took California schools from number one i. The country to 47 th. Doubling down on failed policy just leads to disaster.

Dems fixed that by dumbing down entrance requirements for higher education... dumbing down requirements to graduate high school... because those are racist...

They teach everything about what you should think and graduate illiterates who can barely read or do basic math. Their future slaves don’t need education.

True... democrats need stupid supporters to vote them in...

What education system. The democrat controlled teachers union have turned it into indoctrination. It needs to be dismantled and rebuilt with charter schools aplenty.

Yeah of course it’s indoctrination. If teachers are so good at it, how come they can’t get kids to turn off their phones in class?

Teachers barely have any control over kids as is, so what makes you think they are in position to “indoctrinate” kids?

So your contention is that since they can't get kids to turn off their cell phones in class, somehow they incapable of indoctrinating them?

What is the causal relationship between the two? You're the expert, so I am hoping you can expand on this point.

It can't just be me who is missing the obvious causal relationship...

You’re right that it isn’t a causal relationship, yeah. Though there are two ways you could interpret my argument:
1) If teachers were supposedly so good at indoctrination, you’d think they’d be able to get students to behave
2) If students aren’t willing to give teachers basic respect, then why would they listen to teachers lecturing about their “ideologies”?

I’m not saying the education system doesn’t have issues, because it definitely does. It’s just that people are blaming an imaginary problem

The curriculum is the indoctrination and the proof that the focus is on ideology over education is the abhorrent results from test scores. If the teachers don’t have control who does? I hear Florida allows schools to ban cell phones in class. Sounds like a common sense solution.

As someone whose whole life has been centered around education, I can assure you there is no “indoctrination” in the school curriculum. There is no surefire cause for lowered test scores, and the fact that our budgets are being lowered by the day makes it so we can’t find out exactly why or remedy solutions.

And yes, most school districts can and do ban cell phones, but that doesn’t stop children from bringing them in anyway or listening to the teacher to put them away

Have you been the one who sets these curricula? (hope I have the singular/plural form correct there...) The reason I ask is because those setting a curriculum don't necessarily make it obvious when they're trying to indoctrinate the uninformed. And the uninformed, while certainly including the students, could also include the teachers or anyone else involved with executing what is set out in the curriculum.
1 up, 9mo
I’ll admit I don’t set the curriculum, but I am familiar enough with it and how they tell teachers to teach it to know that the educators goals is not indoctrination, rather education

959 has a great point in Albert Canada the new curriculum is very biased towards the conservatives
0 ups, 9mo
Ya so the teacher says put it away and the kid refuses teacher calls the principal or dean and sends the kid to the office. Second offense more severe. Third offense, kicked out of school. Too dumb or obstinate to follow rules gets you removed.

As to test scores it’s simple as well. They used to be able to teach kids to read and write and do math. Now they can’t? Maybe the curriculum is flawed.
