Since an illegal alien is not a propper person, under either Indiana or Federal law, it would be Illegal to gift or sell a firearm to them. That would definitely be considered a straw purchase.

Carry and possess are potentially the same in meaning. What it if it was on loan, or simply "found"? If you work at a Liquor store, and there's a gun within your control, under the counter, you could be said to be in possession.

As for "carry" - facts matter - like the relevant State law. Recent SCOTUS rulings on 2nd Amendment rights, will properly be understood to apply to all in the US, equally, under the 14th Amendment. If you can carry, legally, so can someone who isn't documented.

The Constitution PROTECTS rights for people, that were granted by their creator. It grants "Civil Rights" to "US citizen" "persons", pursuant to thr 14th Amendment - which doesn't convey or protect all of the rights in the Bill of Rights. See Jones vs. Temmer and Afroyim vs Colorado, or the Japanese Internment cases, like Hirabayashi.

Given the SCOTUS recent positions on 2nd Amendment rights, and the fact that even undocumented migrants are protected by the 14th Amendment - it's likely that this will stand. If the question is merely one of "possession", it's understandable in light of case law. Perhaps the gun was LOANED, or found... In that case, the issue of possession is the only question. The facts of a case are important. What's in the record? That's your homework assignment. You might look to see if you can find the written ruling.
