One must suffer from some degree of mental illness, not to be confused with mental incompetence, to shoot up a school.
So far this year there have been 16 school shooting incidents, according to CNN.
03 on college campuses
13 on K-12 campuses
The 16 events resulted in 9 deaths and 23 injured.
Me:
Very, very, few school shootings are "active shooter" mass casualty events. I read either 4 or 7 of the 300+ shootings in 2022 were what is considered an "active shooter" incident.
But, I have also read that planned shootings by unconnected individuals is expected to rise.
Prior mental health issues reported in ~72% of cases.
In their report, CNN further stated the following:
"In the first year of the pandemic, when schools were closed, there was a major decline in gun violence incidents on school grounds."
You don't say!
One child is one too many, but the media makes it seem to be worse than it is.
It is my belief that this media hype offers a person in the grip of a mental health crisis their perceived chance at "glory" and "fame"...and possibly death by cop.
The media needs to tone it down
Seems more about agenda based than fact based reporting.
