Yes but remember the great leftist cry, "True socialism has never been tried!" Oh and also, "This time around it's bound to work!"

That's a good point. We should also remember that they also like to say socialism works in the Scandinavian countries. I mention that because as usual, they want to have it both ways. They want to claim they have proof that it works, while also claiming that it's never really been tried.

I like to point out to U.S. leftists that in every case of socialism 'working' it is by tiny nations that cannot produce militaries large or strong enough to defend themselves, but instead must depend on the power umbrella of a super power to keep them 'free'. You can either provide your people free cake, candy, and ice cream -- to a certain point -- if all the cards fall right and nothing ever goes wrong or maintain a military large and potent enough to secure their freedoms; but you can't do both.
