Wait a minute.  My reading indicated that this was another DIsney film produced by their Marvel studio division.

No. It's a Sony film. Sony bought the film rights to Spider-Man in the o0s when Marvek was going bankrupt.  They bailed Marvel out.

My information says it's a Sony production released thru Columbia Pictures.

Actually that does sound more reasonable.  I haven't kept up with the Marvel line; but Madame Web certainly does not ring a Marvel bell.

Madame Web falls under the Spider-Man part of the Marvel universe. Any such characters are still done by Sony.
