Pregnant mothers (and everybody else) should probably not smoke meth.

It is their body... but it's also illegal and is highly addictive.

And if she plans to have the baby, that's clearly f*cked up. To be born with an addiction right off the bat is horrible. And I don't think anyone thinks America needs more meth babies nor meth addicts attempting to raise children.

It should be common ground. I wonder why though, you completely avoided addressing the main actual point the meme made?

Correct me if I'm mistaken but your main point is that abortions hurt the fetus and meth probably would too... so why is only one of them considered ok?

My response is basically that it depends on the situation.

If the pregnant woman will be getting an abortion anyway, who gives a sh*t about possible side effects of meth.

If the pregnant woman plans to give birth (or is forced to becuase abortion has been outlawed), that would clearly be a problem because it'll be born a crackhead.

The problem is most addicts have pregnancies and don't find out till later some just show up at the hospital in labor with no prenatal care and end up in jail because they used illicit drugs during pregnancy. If these addicts could have a safe place to go to a doctor who could help them instead of jailing them, than maybe society wouldn't have to deal with the financial tax burdens that one pregnant addict can create. But still I'm not tied to any political beliefs when it comes to what a woman wants to do to their body. You can tell a drug addict that drugs are bad, but if they don't believe drugs are bad theirs no stopping them unless they want to stop. The only way to stop drugs is to not have them exist.

I would say there's many possible problems beyond that and even beyond drug addicts.. Generally speaking it's probably not good to force a woman who would have otherwise chosen abortion to raise an unwanted child.

And I'm sure many (all?) addicts know drugs are bad for them.. but they do them anyway because they're addicted. There will most likely always be drugs. Some are unnatural and illegal and you can make them. Some are natural and illegal and they simply grow. And some are unnatural and legal but abused by people without the medical conditions youre supposed to have to do the drugs. Idk

Pregnant meth mother just had a baby and refused the drug test so they tested the baby and found meth in it's system. Taxpayer is stuck paying for the free lawyer 3 hots and a cot, hospital bill, and foster care services. It seems it would have been cheaper to just allow a doctor the freedom to advise the addicted mother to terminate her pregnancy.

Well according to the news she was put in jail awaiting trial and the baby was placed in state care. It didn't work out that way for one woman and a baby was born with meth in it's system. Most of these addicts refuse medical care untill they are in labor.

Which, according to the left is perfectly fine. Her body, her choice. What some call a human being, or a baby, is nothing more than a clump of cells until it's fully out of the mother's body, according to the left... and even then, some still want to kill it.

I guess that should be up to the voter. I'm ok with putting drug addicts in jail that birth baby's with drugs in their system for 10 years. But if a doctor could have gotten the mother treatment for drug rehab before she got pregnant that would be ideal. Then the tax payer wouldn't have to pay for jail costs, hospital bill and foster care along with the medical costs of rehabilitation for a drug exposed infant and mother. These are life long costs of drug addicts that hinder society.
