At worst it was an attempt to seek a redress of grievance regarding the voting results prior to certification which would nullify complaint.
At some point some people did some things and it devolved into a mostly peaceful protest, some would say a mostly peaceful riot
All the democrat politicians screeching "insurrection" are just doing so to rally voters to their election campaigns.
And the media is their mouthpiece.
