It worked out so well that the native American tribes have their own government funded by so called reparations, and they still have tribal members living in poverty, while crime is also high, and they are stuck under the reservation rule not being able to afford to purchase the land they want anywhere in the USA, only receiving healthcare in designated tribal facilities, not being able to live anywhere they want in the USA and have access to tribal services outside of the designated tribal areas. Works well only for those who stay close to the tribe they are registered to.
