No. Furries aren't a sexuality. You wouldn't make sports fans a letter, so furries wouldn't be one either.

So That Makes Furries a Race Then...

You wouldn't make sports mascots a letter, would be a more relevant example. But yes, furry isn't inherently a sexuality so I guess that relegates the sexualization of furrys to a fetish or paraphilia. Good thing they have their own pride flag, since the other marginalized groups previously (and to a lesser degree currently) labeled as freaks and deviants wants nothing to do with being associated with furries.

No we don't want a letter 💀
It's embarrassing for straight furs and too many letters for gay furs

The too many letters part explains why the 2s portion isn't catching on.

I don't want furry to be a letter. That is the dumbest thing ever. It's not a sexuality

Someone should tell the crusaders who scream zoophile every time they see a furry. I'd heard that shit so many times that I myself began to conflate furry with sexualized furry fetishism. My mistake. I just saw another persecuted group wanting to be accepted for how they truly felt inside and assumed it fit with the lgbtq ethos. Apparently that is the dumbest thing ever.

I never asked if they wanted it or should get it. I asked if they deserved it. And because it isn't inherently a sexual preference or gender identity, the answer is no. Simple.

Furries aren't a sexuality.
If furries have a letter, then Therians, otherkin, and many, MANY other fandoms would have to have letters, too.

Interesting...just curious do you feel the same way towards gay furries and gay non-furries?

Sorry, my main got temp banned for "homophobia". And yes, I do feel the same way.

I'm just gonna explain why I don't like lgbtq:
Look, tbh I don't care about lgbtq, you do you, I'm in no position to tell you what to do. It's when the community starts trying to "infect" other communities. For example: the furry community is not even related to lgbtq, but now that lgbtq is starting to be a bigger and bigger part of it, the furry flag is literally just a gay flag, and you can't even say you're a furry without being called gay. And not only that, the "pride" thing makes no sense. What's to be proud about? It's not like you accomplished anything other than a new reason for people to dislike you and think you're mentally ill. I could go on even longer but I'm just going to cut it short. I have one last question, why would you want to be anything other than who you truly are? I get it's probably "fun" to some extent to pretend to be a persona, but to take it this seriously makes absolutely no sense.

And to the gay mod who keeps banning me: Just fricking stop, I'm tryna have a conversation here

As the “gay mod”, look, I don’t give a crap about your opinions, say what you want, but it is in no way appropriate to call people slurs. This stream is a safe space for people no matter their orientation, and you need to respect that.

Understood

It's just really frustrating that lgbtq has almost taken over this community and many others even tho not everyone is into it. And you can't say anything about it or push back against it without being called disrespectful or "homophobic". People are making it out like lgbtq is normal and anyone who thinks otherwise is scum or some shit.
Not an excuse, I'm just saying 👐

I’m really not going to argue, because arguing makes me sad, but please understand, if it doesn’t directly impact your wellbeing, it doesn’t really matter. If people who are different enjoy the same things you do, great! That means you aren’t so different at all! I agree, certain aspects about people’s sexuality being their entire personality can be quite annoying, but if it makes them happy, that’s what matters in the end.
0 ups, 11mo
No no I'm not trying to argue, I'm just tryna share my point of view and maybe gain a better understanding of the subject :)

Yes that does make a lot of sense, it's just that recently it seems as if you're being forced into accepting lgbtq, and if you don't you're labeled as homophobic

Lol, fair. Thanks for the reply. I totally feel you. Never thought about it that way, and your explanation actually makes a lot of sense.

I'm confused at the end where you say "why would you want to be anything other than who you truly are?" Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding this, but isn't pretending to be a persona the cornerstone of being a furry? I guess just so long as you don't take it too seriously? Maybe that's the difference: sexual identity is just that: an identity. Furry is something a person can put on and take off, so to speak.

No you're good, perhaps it truly doesn't make sense lol

What I mean is why would you want to pretend to be the opposite sex/gender (or neither) when you're just.. not.

Btw you're right, pretending to be a persona or fursona is definitely a part of being a furry, but I think that falls under fursuiting, therefor only some people do it.

I think lgbtq etc falls under the category of things I don't understand and don't need to understand, because it's not about me. When my trans friends felt strongly enough to physically transition, I took it at face value that they weren't setting their old lives on fire for the sake of fun or theatrics. If they were, it involved a level of 24/7 commitment I'd almost have to respect more than if it was rooted in a fundamental sense of identity. But I also only have 3 data points to go off re: trans, a mtf and 2 ftm, and they're all super chill about it. I've also got a bunch of gay friends and I suppose they'd be annoying to people who disliked gays, but for purposes of just wanting to live their lives I'd say they're like anybody else. Again, limited data points. I know there are caustic, malignant people in those demographics, but I don't see them more heavily represented in lgbtq than any other demographic. Sadly the loud obnoxious ones are the most visible.

Please don't take offense, but I didn't understand most of that😭

Like I said, I don't care if you wanna change your identity or smth, I was only curious as to why you would want to do that. It's just when you try "infecting" (I can't think of any other word) or taking over other communities that I think is not right :/
0 ups, 11mo
I totally agree. Respect for others is a 2-way street. I try not to impose myself on other people, but that needs to go both ways. When I get trampled I push back hard, doubly so when my own community is involved. No step on snek! 🐍
