Alexander Avdonin, head of military recruitment in Russia's far-east Republic of Sakha, made the statement during a close-door government meeting, according to leaked video shared by the anti-war Free Yakutia Foundation on Telegram, and posted on their site.

Scholz made these remarks and expressed Germany's shared belief that Russia should promptly conclude its aggression.

"The Russian attack on Ukraine and the impact that it's had - it has made the entire world suffer. Russia must cease aggression as soon as possible," said the German leader. "Russia, through its war, is violating the long-established rule that borders cannot be changed by force, posing a threat to European security. I call this a turning point in history."

Almost all of Europe agrees with his assessment. This is one of the most articulate expressions of their shared view of things I have read.
