All Russia has to do is tell their troops to go home and then all those politicians don't get to make their buck anymore.

But American politicians who profit from defense stocks are fine. Good to know. I bet Afghans and Iraqis were wishing the US would go home long before they did. Your logic is horribly flawed. Young men die because old men are stupid and cruel.

.........yes, in Iraq, the presence of American troops were request to leave long before they actually did!!! It was a very famously controversial issue! Is this something you only just thought of?

Why didn't the Americans just leave? Why don't the Russians just leave? See how stupid it sounds? So stop saying it.

.............. neither of those sound at all stupid. In fact, they've been the central question of the controversy in each case.

Why don't criminals stop stealing? Why don't junkies stop doing dope? Why don't people stop being mean? These are all useless, childish questions. Stop wasting people's time with irritating, rhetorical questions you don't even want answers.

OK. The criminal should really stop stealing though. I don't know anyone who thinks that's a particularly childish thing to say.

Why don't criminals just stop stealing? When a criminal hears this, he will have no choice but to stop stealing because of the irrefutable logic. It's like when Nancy Reagan said, "Just so no," and everyone immediately stopped taking drugs.

Ok. But the criminal really should stop stealing. And I think you'll find that the courts, police, and legislators all agree with me on that.

Let's reframe the question. "How do we get criminals to stop stealing?" That is a useful question. Now let's reframe the Ukraine question. "How do we get Putin to leave Ukraine?" That is a legitimate question and not just empty rhetoric.

......form an international united front to supply and train Ukraine to defend themselves, and sanction the Russian economy.

How about trying diplomacy? Neither side can win easily or soon. The conflict will have to be settled through diplomacy sooner or later anyone. Also, why are we supporting Ukraine? Russia is no threat to the US.
[deleted]
1 up, 1y
I don't know which part of "form an international united front" doesn't count as diplomacy to you, but if you're ever wondering why you're not a diplomat yourself, that's why.

That might have been more direct, as Nancy's beta cuck hubby shipped in so much cocaine, it started the Crack Epidemic.

Why do you think Zelensky shelled Eastern Ukraine (where the primary language of the population is Russian)?

btw... that was BEFORE Putin invaded...

UN observers reported on it....
3 ups, 1y,

It is clear that the American people are being lied to about Ukraine, but why? What is there to gain? Surely it is more than just making money off war profits. Since we are being kept in the dark, there is no way to know. We can only guess the motive.
[deleted]

So, again, literally ALL RUSSIA HAS TO DO is say "go home". Two words. Then all those war profits, all those dark unknowable motives, all of whatever there is to gain - they all end today.
1 up, 1y,

So US, stop interfering in other countries' affairs and go home. Our interference always makes things worse. We should know this by now after Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc.. ALL US HAS TO DO is say "go home."
[deleted]
1 up, 1y,
1 reply
Yeah. And now it's Russia who's interfering with another country's affairs. It's their turn to stop that and go home.

If the US stops interfering in Ukraine, the invasion continues. If Russia stops interfering in Ukraine, the invasion stops. That's the difference.

Some claim that the US provoked the invasion by pushing NATO so close to Russia. I don't know if that is true, but it does remind me that Trump questioned why we still have NATO after the Cold War was over. Why do we have NATO?
[deleted]

Well, as you say right there: the easiest explanation is that it's just not true.

In terms of NATO exanding membership it is true. We said we were for it if Ukraine continued on its new course away from the Russian orbit, Merkel dangled the NATO stick, and that was what was cited as reason for the invasion. Same exact thing happened with Georgia in 2008. NATO invite, Russian invasion.

All I'm going to say to you is, have a think why countries that are experiencing the opening days of Russian preamble to invasion might be open to hearing offers of joining a defensive pact that would directly address the issue. Then I'm going to walk away because you're a reasonable person but this is going to be one of those things where you do not see what I'm saying.
0 ups, 1y
We agreed in 1991 that those countries were hands off, no NATO invite ever in exchnage for no Russian incursion ever. What happened in 2008 wasn't on a lark, nor was 2014. Yes, Virginia, there is no Satan Claws, we done fhuckd up. TWICE.

If you can bend space time to before you were born and present otherrwise than go for it. Memory, remember? I lived through this. I go back to when it was called "The Urkaine." The backdrop of USSR as it happened was part of my childhood.

In the meantime, leave the darling pats on the head for your pets.

Oh, and don't forget the upvote. I just done a column of yours and I highly doubt you find the comment rep timers a suitable expenditure of your time.
0 ups, 1y
Actually all claim that, because that is exactly why it happened, same as what happened in 2008 in Georgia, minus us providing any assistance while Putin plowed that country down into the ground because we also tempted them with NATO memberhip. We just didn't give a crap because it's not in Europe.

We never learn.

You mean surrender and leave eastern Ukrainians to the attempted genocide? I suppose that WOULD be all he had to do but it wouldn't stop people from dying.

If Russia goes home, people stop dying.
1 up, 1y,
1 reply
Eastern Ukrainians are Russians.

Negotiation is not surrender. It's egocentric thinking like that preventing diplomacy.

Zelensky has some thinking to do and a decision to make.

To quote your greatest president EVER; I have two words for you:

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.—Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember'd.

All you are confirming is Zelensky will not negotiate unless Putin will cease laying claim to the four areas..."oblasts" 😄

English, English, English, English, English, English, Russian, English, English. 😄

You're like them American news people saying "kibbutz" so they appear worldly and refined to people that don't know it just means town.

Would you rather:

Give me a slice of your delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting

OR

I beat you up and take it all

It is better to negotiate before the opportunity to do so falls on deaf ears.

Does being pretentious and using one russian word in a paragraph of english words qualify you to comment on the "war"?
1 up, 1y
That IS what they're called.

Do you refer to the province of Alberta as a state? County Cork in Ireland? The prefecture of Tokyo?

It does if I know what it means. You thought they were towns!
0 ups, 1y
Your pretentiousness is only outdone by your arguing semantics.

Knowing a Russian word and applying the narrowest, most restrictive definition to that word, makes you an authority on Russia and Russian ideology?
😄

I suggest you apply your great acumen to learning a chinese word.
