If Columbus Crew brought back tomatoes to the Mediterranean from the New World,
Does that Make Him The First Globalist?

Imagine Spanish Rice or Italian Pizza Sauce w/o tomatoes?

I have no problem with Globalism if it comes naturally. I'm against forcing Globalism on people. Forced Globalism is a power grab by megalomaniacs who will kill millions if you let them.

Columbus sold 9 year olds as Sex slaves ... odd having these children celebrate him

Columbus' crew definitely abused natives, but the story about him selling a 9-year-old sex slave is a myth. Columbus was not a saint, but he was a successful explorer. To Italians Columbus is a cultural icon. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/columbus-sex-slaves/

But everything he did was on behalf of Spanish tyrants.

False, they arrested him for doing it.

As I understand it, Columbus' men forced natives to mine gold and punished those who refused. Other atrocities also. Columbus was detained briefly for these crimes. He was not a saint, but he did open up the new world. He was a great explorer and adventurer, but maybe not a great guy. You have to put it in the context of history. Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and English, all committed similar crimes in their efforts to "explore." Sorry, lots of history sucks like that. You can't just delete it all. It's who we are.

He and his brother were arrested and went to prison for his atrocities in Spain.

They were only in jail in Spain for a few weeks, but they were subsequently released and set out for their fourth and final voyage in 1502.

After who paid to get them out?

My guess would be the King and Queen released them.

Actually she was the one that had them arrested.

I would guess that whoever got them released also financed their final voyage.

Binary thinking is useless. History is complicated. There are no good guys. I have always said this. You are the moralist. I think morality is useless. Take for example the current conflict in the Middle East. Who are the "good guys?" Israel, Hamas, and Iran have all committed atrocities. That is history. Everyone commits atrocities. Name one country that has not. You can't. But you also have to look at the progress countries have made. Columbus was a pioneer. He began the European "conquest" of the New World which you and I have benefitted from. So stop being a hypocrite. Eat your tomatoes, potatoes, and chocolate, and admit I'm right.

I do not identify as a conservative. I used to identify as a moderate Democrat. Not sure that is a thing anymore. Do you identify as a socialist?

False, it is NOT a myth, Cristobal Colon indulged them and more.

Oh, and talking about myths, Italians may adore him, but in the entirety of his lifetime, not a single person ever witnessed Colon speak, write, or even read a single word of Italian.
