Also a person with one job getting one or two other jobs just to pay the bills shouldn't count as job growth.

One statistic the liars steer wide of is what is the percentage of working-age Americans working...

They don't even count all those who are past unemployment.... they only count people who are unemployed from qualifying claims. Every homeless person is unemployed. Anyone on SSI is unemployed. They really suck at figuring out the reality of unemployed.

Have you ever tried to employ someone homeless?
2 ups, 1y,

No they are unemployable so that’s why social workers try to get them on SSI but that’s like living on 614 dollars a month so they just stay homeless without a job.

Sounds about right.

I didn't mean that to sound guilt trippy or anything but looking back it may have come across that way idk.

One of my neighbors tried to give a local homeless man a job doing a couple things for him. I'll just say he regretted it later... for numerous reasons.

Never help the homeless. Although it might get you points in good karma it always leads to hardship. They use to make good farm hands for a while, till they ravage the farm and vanish... But we have a government for a reason who keeps funding billions to nonprofits who claim to be helping but I have yet to see that really put a dent in the homeless situation. So it's really hard because this economy is putting a toll on the younger generation and the older generation is being killed off in nursing homes. I'm still a strong believer in homeless nursing homes... But they don't exist yet and asylums are scarce the ones that are up and running work on turning people into vegetables... But it's kind of what homeless people are turning themselves into with their lifestyle. And people are stuck trying to live with it as a part of our society. Still they are human none the less who deserves the pursuit of happiness, food clothing shelter. Every homeless person in America is living the broken dream of those who are not yet broken. It's only a problem the government can fix, it's like seeing them live through a depression. And hopefully they can get out, but nice caring individuals cannot become the victim. Also low income individuals cannot become the victim of homelessness. The consumption market is so ridiculous that it's now being a automatic installation on the Simplist thing as a phone. Pre loaded apps asking for payment access, and shopping apps... I wonder how people haven't gone bankrupt and homeless. State governments increasing property taxes so high they price people out of their homes. Disgusting. No federal cap to stop states that charge property tax. The new form of slavery. It's a ramble I apologize, it's just such a big issue that have a lot of people worried they could be next. And to top it all off no union to set it all straight. Divided we stand united we fall.

Just to be clear, because lefties have a need to twist the truth...

Jobless people are classified into one of two categories by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)—either unemployed or not in the labor force. To be classified as unemployed in the month they are surveyed, people must be actively looking for work. If they are not actively looking, they are classified as not in the labor force.

When you add both categories together, you get a total of 105.897 million working-age Americans that do not have a job right now.

So, you're saying a third of our TOTAL population is working-age people who are currently looking for work. I really, really want to see that data.

FRED economic data - St Louis Fed

According to that, the latest data says 3.7% unemployment, agreeing with the administration's talking point.

Not in Labor Force (LNS15000000)

Indeed. "Persons who are neither employed nor unemployed are not in the labor force. This category includes retired persons, students, those taking care of children or other family members, and others who are neither working nor seeking work."

Those numbers have nothing to do with the unemployment rate. Your 105 million people would be kids, retirees, and people who "are neither working nor seeking work". The unemployment rate is the measurement of what percentage of people in the labor force is currently seeking work as opposed to working.

Please use the statistics responsibly, if only because it weakens your argument if it looks like you don't understand them.

Unemployment is not low. In fact, John Williams estimates that the real rate of unemployment in this country is somewhere around 25 percent.

You do know who he is?
4 ups, 1y
I'm assuming you mean the John C. Williams who runs the Federal Reserve Bank of New York? I'd still really, really want to see those numbers, because the only way that estimate is possible is by redefining what is meant by unemployment.

That number your meme cited includes a great many non-working age Americans "retired persons, students", and UNEMPLOYED, in economist, means not working while wanting a job, ie, looking for work. So the number of people Not in Labor Force should not include any people who are in that situation.

This data just does not back up your argument: it undermines it. I'm not trying to punch down here: I just want you to read the statistics well and make a valid argument. This kind of meme is exactly the kind that gets posted on the left-leaning streams of Imgflip and mocked brutally, because it makes it seem like you aren't able to read the data. Don't open yourself to that.

Are the counting the job rate for those who immigrate legally and illegally? Last I knew it took a green card and a ss# to get a job ..
1 up, 1y
They lie
1 up, 1y
So if our shorty government was truly honest about classifying those out of the workforce wouldn’t the unemployment rate be higher? It’s not a honest view of the reality of our economy. And it justifies the president is doing a good job. I disagree with the way they Rosie up the statistics. But yes this is truly how they calculate the unemployment.

And I'm not saying 100 million people are in a coma.....I'm just saying that adding people who are not in the labor force to unemployment in an effort to try and show that someone quoting unemployment statistics is gaslighting..........also kinda seems like gaslighting.

You're lying to yourself if you believe the majority of the 100 Million are not capable of working...
1 up, 1y
Are they counting all those individuals making money illegally for a living... Sure not. That unemployment rate is surely 35% at least I'm thinking like 195mill if the census claims to have 380mill in America big picture small brain.
