Technically the end of slavery was when the final native tribe lost their battle against the u.s government and freed their slaves, which took place after the end of the civil war because the tribes didn't believe the emancipation proclamation applied to tribal lands.
I somehow don't expect we'll be seeing THAT holiday though..
Sounds like it was slow walked. The extra two years of slavery probably wasn't as much fun as you imagine. Your exhortation that Republicans once gave a sh*t only underscores the party's change of heart. Today's GOP won't even support the Constitution. Talk about a fall from grace.
Yes, but no. Our party's forbears were slave owners (Conservatives) and GOP were the abolitionists (liberals). You are not the GOP that you advertise yourself to be.
You'd think that it'd be more clear that Republicans get the southern vote 9/10.
Now you're splitting hairs on top of compering apples and oranges. Conservative/liberal is the ideology, not the party. Also you demrocrats didn't change one bit between then and now; the constant victim hood, racism, and lies.

Splitting hairs and "apples to oranges" are redundant.
