God answers all prayers, but just not in the ways we might expect or want. He loved us into existence. He knows what He's doing. He knows us through-and-through. He knows what's best for us.
God isn't some Santa Claus Who you write lists of demands to and expect Him to fulfill them. There are some things that we'll want that aren't going to be good for us, even when we're really sure of it. God is pulling the strings as I type this comment to ensure that life thrives in the universe. It's not out of His control, but it is out of ours, since we are merely beings of creation, not beings who can create as God does.
Furthermore, God does NOT have favorites. He's put many of his faithful to the test...Job, who lost his whole family...St. Monica, who prayed for 38 years for her son, St. Augustine's conversion...Moses and Aaron, who had to deal with the rowdy Israelites...us, who have our own sufferings. As I said before, God loves us into existence. He wants us to love Him in return, but He gave us free will, that we may come to love Him without being forced to do so. Take a look at the angels: They're powerful beings, but He didn't make them blindly worshipping robots who can't desire anything for themselves. He gave them a choice, too, hence why the devil turned on Him; he was the most beautiful, intelligent, and powerful of all the angels. With such attributes, Lucifer wanted to ascend to the throne of the Most High, Who has a beauty, power, and intelligence beyond all comprehension.
Now it's up to us to turn back to God, and avoid the same, wretched fate the devil put himself in. It sounds like you're in a state of despair. Believe me, I know what it's like to feel defeated. I am nothing without God; we all are. We can't do everything and take care of everything. We were never meant to. We have to be at peace with it.
