The study he refers to doesn't say that the masks didn't work.

It says that the mandates didn't work because the people most likely to get sick didn't follow them.

There's a big difference between those two things.

That moment when imgflip politics finally uses "the failing NYT" as a source on anything.

And yet you seem to have used it as a source.. I mean is it fake news or isn't it?

It's "lib central," as I said.

It helps form lib dogma of the given moment, then inevitably reports the contrary, when that little turd of lib dogma becomes universally seen as untrue. It's the game they play to maintain a thin facade of credibility, which I see through.

So... Not fake news?

I'll simplify this for you.

99% of the time, they publish fake news, which the libs believe.

1% of the time, they let the truth slip out. As when they admitted that Hunter Biden's laptop was really his and had nothing to do with the Russians. Those stories crush beliefs held by libs for years, so they don't believe those stories.

The "truth that slipped out" in this example being:

An opinion article written by a conservative claiming that masks don't work... based on a report that says "Relatively low numbers of people followed the guidance about wearing masks....which may have affected the results of the studies".

The New York Times is extremely leftist so the fact that anyone there would even consider posting this as an opinion says a lot
And whether they said it or not, mask mandates didn't really do anything.

I would agree with part of your underlying premise that supporting covid precautionary measures ( at least as far as masks, vaccines, social distancing, and a few others) has become relatively politicized.

However I disagree that it "says a lot" that someone at the NYT wrote this. Theoretically that might make sense but the actual person who wrote this particular op-ed is a conservative.

From this study:

^ This seems like quite a wild statement in a study allegedly "proving" that masks don't work.
