why are people upset when in 2022, america jailed a crap ton of people for the same thing?

i can understand if it's for medical purposes, but if people have it in a certain state that doesn't allow it, hen they should be punished. i could see a reason why to decriminalize marijuana other than medical stuff, like boosting the economy. colorado did it and it's worked, but it could get out of hand fast. that's why i don't like it.

I'm confused, I thought you were criticizing the criminalization of marijuana because it puts people in jail for something which isn't a big deal, but you're saying people should be punished if they possess marijuana in a state where it's not legal?

Legalizing it takes away the incentive for drug trafficking. Also, if you make it illegal again, you're saying people should go to jail for having it, which has caused nothing but problems in this country.
