Inflation does not change the daily caloric intake you require. It does not increase or decrease crop yields. Inflation does not change the fuel efficiency of your car. Inflation simply changes what you have to pay, for the exact amount, of the exact same thing, you bought yesterday or last week.

You are correct in pointing out that inflation is wholly and solely a creation of government.

I was thinking about e-cigarettes, for instance. A few years back, when there were fewer regulations, I could order on-line, have it delivered to my residence. On-line retailers had a better selection of items at a reasonable price. I would buy at local stores only in an "emergency." Now, there have been additional taxes, surcharges and shipping restrictions put in place. That makes on-line shopping more expensive and now residential shipping is completely blocked in my State. Local stores can now keep prices high because they no longer have on-line competition. When I go into a local store, I feel like I have to take what they've got, which is not necessarily what I really want.
I realize e-cigs is a "vice" product and might not be the best example but how many other products have supply and demand manipulated by govt taxation and red tape?
