As far as the context of this conversation ie Whelan... No.. not really. As I already said trump also didn't bring him back. If trump is not a traitor for "abandoning" Whelan, than neither is Biden. And who is to say Biden wasn't negotiating from a position of strength? As I said I'm surprised he got anyone back right now. Plus Russia's guy had already been in our prison for more than a decade. Griner just barely got in.
Seems like you might be trying to drag Afghanistan into this conversation though and if so, Biden literally pulled out the troops first and big picture ending that war has saved who knows how many lives of our servicemen. Yes 13 died in the exit... but more than that typically died each year under trump and you don't see the right making countless memes about remembering them do you?
All of this also completely ignores the Marine that President Biden DID negotiate back earlier this year, Trevor Reed. A veteran who, similar to Whelan, was captured in Russia during Trump's presidency and was "abandoned" by him.... Brought back by Biden.
Democrats do protest wars but particularly when they are not seen as justified. I'm sure there are plenty of Dems who think WW2 was legit. The holocaust was clearly a problem. Afghanistan was kind of a question mark now considering we already got Bin Laden. Russia seems to pretty clearly be simply trying to take over Ukraine by force.
"I guess that’s easy when your people aren’t the ones being slaughtered."
Simply looking away would be far easier. Sending them weapons seems to be the best way to help them fight for their country without getting too entangled.
