I reviewed a bit of this story from whatever sources I could find online, sources I’ve never heard of before and don’t necessarily trust, as reviewing their adjacent material shows they are replete with other COVID disinformation. These are not high-quality sources.
I’ll assume for now that how they’re describing this story is accurate, in its basic details, though more likely the story they are telling is very skewed to fit the anti-vaxx agenda.
Even on its own terms, this is a story of parental abuse. The hospital told her parents very clearly what steps they’d need to take to make their daughter eligible to receive the transplant. Her parents refused. The refusal is on them.
There is no evidence that the COVID vaccine is *more* dangerous than refusing a life-saving transplant. None whatsoever.
The articles fail to account for the context that organ transplants are very limited, and there are always more patients on the waiting list than organs available to donate. Physicians are likely to select donees with a higher probability of success. The failure to take a COVID vaccine is a legitimate medical factor, among other factors that were likely also considered in this case (but not discussed in the anti-vaxx skewed articles).
Also, I haven’t seen anything suggesting the child has “died.” Her parents are searching for a hospital that doesn’t have the same requirements. If she dies in the meantime, she’ll have been a casualty of the medical disinformation that has infected her parents.
Anyway. I’m unfeaturing this meme both for COVID disinformation and also for the apparent viewpoint misdirection in your meme title.
