Yeah, this is big brain time | Autumn is usually defined in the Northern Hemisphere as the period between the autumnal equinox (day and night equal in length), September 2 | image tagged in yeah this is big brain time | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Autumn is September 21-December 21. Doesn't matter where you are, the seasons are universal and based upon the equinoxes and solstices.

I don't see the logic, the longest day should be midsummer, not the start of summer. Before and after the longest day, are long hot days. Summer.

no, it depends what country you are in. about half the world starts late September for Autumn and about half starts first day of September for Autumn

You are leaving out the entire Southern Hemisphere which starts Autumn in April/May

ok, two things:
1) About ninety percent of Earth's population lives in the Northern Hemisphere.
2) I guess I meant having a season start at the first day vs having a season start at a later date like 20 or 21.

Fair enough. I personally prefer 4 x 3month seasons, based more on weather than equinoxes. Eg Sept to Nov, Dec to Feb, March to May, June to Aug. The equinox could be seen as a mid-season event rather than to start the season. Ie the longest night isn't the beginning of winter, but somewhere in the middle.

I mean, yea, (I'm currently freezing my but off and it's November) but Technically winter doesnt start until the 25th of December - meaning December is still mostly fall technically

since most seasons only start late into the first month, shouldn't the first month be the last month of last season and the first month for the next season the last month for the current season?

MO is a place where fall is literally not the season it's supposed to be XD
Sometimes we have snow in November, sometimes we have humid days in late October, (Like on my Bday), and sometimes when December has not gotten to its winter area yet, the days can be either cold and wet with the rain or 80 degrees outside. I'm used to it though X3

very interesting. have you experienced a cold Christmas if vacationed to the northern hemisphere? also how's Yuletide or Yulefest?
0 ups, 4y
I've never experienced a cold Christmas, but our Christmas decorations still reflect the cold Christmas (snow sleigh, warmly dressed Santa, snow flakes, snowman ☃️etc I've only traveled to the Northern Hemisphere in May. Dec to Feb is hot weather here.
