supposedly, we need to brush our teeth because our teeth were specifically evolving to host bacteria. This bacteria, in addition to eating away at chunks of our teeth if left on, causes infections if deposited in open wounds. This means that a human bite is almost guaranteed to result in a nasty infection, which in the animal world where there's no doctors to prescribe antibiotics is practically a death sentence.
