Lives in Portland, ORFeb 28
As a resident of Portland for nigh on 25 years, I can safely say there is enough reason to hold this city in contempt with out having to make up one thing. In fact, I would say these photos are reason enough. As somebody who has spent their adult life trying to fight the humanitarian crisis that is the homeless catastrophe, I can say as far as the city goes, it cares very little about human life. Politics? Yes. They talk a good game, but human life is less sacred than the proper words. In 2017, a survey estimated that there were 38,000 homeless people in the metro area. I have had children as young as four beg me for food. I have seen people with a baby live under a free overpass. No one gives a care. They are quite content letting a child die in front of them while they make up clever political catch phrases like “Reich-wing news.” Which only divide people and keep them from solving the very real issues. In many ways, Portland is a destroyed society, a future dystopia. The rich step over the poor with their metal coffee cups and laptop computers, on their way to their electric cars, thinking “oh what a good person I am.” The trash, the rats, the drug needles, the crime, the human waste, and the waste of human life are a lot to over look, but somehow people do. The pictures were taken along one of the bike paths on the I205 corridor which is now a miles long homeless camp. It’s just one of many. The camps crisscross the city. I have other photos on the same subject taken from around the city. Dozens in fact.
