Rand Paul had a multi-year dispute about the Senator's yard clearing refuse ending up in his neighbor Rene Boucher's yard. Dr. Boucher, an Anesthesiologist, complained that Rand ignored his many objections to spreading his mess between yards. On occasion, Boucher said Paul would simply go into his house and shut the door behind him rather than talk about the problem. In a 2017 event, Boucher witnessed Rand putting yard waste in a pile on their property line. He flew off the handle and physically confronted Rand, knocking him to the ground, breaking several of his ribs. An initial sentence of 30-days in jail for a guilty plea was appealed by the prosecution and increased to 8-months. His fines were close to $500,000.00. He sold the house next to Rand in order to pay his expenses. In spite of his description of Rand Paul as the worst neighbor, his first amendment rights ended when he touched the senator.
In 2020 Rand Paul knew he had COVID-19 yet did not properly quarantine, exposing Mitt Romney and others to the disease. Rand Paul finally self-quarantined. However, Romney had to quarantine himself from his wife, who has Multiple Sclerosis. Christine Pelosi said of this event in a Tweet at the time that Rand Paul's neighbor was right. Indicating that his selfishness made him a bad neighbor. The daughter of the Speaker of the House should not have made this snide and vindictive comment. It was not up to her to be the arbiter of a bad situation between the two senators.
I am sorry that this statement is so long. But I thought this needed to be said.
