"I'm not sure of the mods want us talking to each other"
it seems they don't want me talking at all. my comment reputation is at its worst, meaning i can't post frequently, nor can i post meme comments.
it's clear i'm not the person i used to be...
"I said some pretty harsh words to your alternate account and hopefully you accepted my apology for that. If I knew it was you would have never been harsh but I didn't see it was you until I saw the last comment. Anyway I apologize again. Not because of what the mods did to me but because I genuinely respect what you have to say, even if I disagree with it."
no worries. apology accepted :)
"The news media is driven by two things 1) a fanatical devotion to the Democrat Party, and 2) sensationalism to the point of just making stuff up so they can sell the news."
the news media is much more aligned with republicans. not so much the recent wave of trump-style republicans, but more or less liz cheney and george w. bush republicans. CNN considers trump too far to the right. simultaneously, they consider bernie sanders too far left. this is because, at the end of the day, they're owned by larger-than-life billionaires who need rightwing messaging to benefit their businesses.
fox news are taking the grander stand in favor of trump, since their work is to appeal to a base. cnn is being nudged in that direction ever since warner media and discovery merged. nbc is, on the other hand, maintaining consistency.
"I have heard of the national teacher shortage. And it seems more like DeSantis is just trying to fill that shortage with retired police and military. That makes sense to me."
this process opens the doors to much greater problems, particularly since these retired cops/veterans are not trained in the specific subjects that children are intended to learn. not only that, but their experience with children is very limited. the best these cops/veterans could probably do is stop a school shooter... which as we saw in uvalde, the police can't even do that properly.
"There is a much greater likelihood that they will keep politics out of the classroom altogether"
it's very easy to skew information by avoiding using language that could be considered "political." if it were me making policy, i would actively de-politicize lgbt terms altogether so that there is no argument to be made against them.
