Well your first problem was joining the military to pay for your education. I wouldn't join the military for anything. They send you to other countries where you go around killing children and innocent people that are just trying to defend themselves from foreign invaders.

I understand completely. They send you over there telling you that you are fighting for their freedom. When in fact you are fighting them for some small political advantage one country might get over another. They view you as a foreign invader.

War is political and unavoidable collateral damage is involved.

I meant you don't understand why people join the military, some choose it because they can't afford college without racking up a lot of debt, or they want to choose a path where they can learn a specific skill that will lead to careers in the civilian world. Considering I don't pay taxes on my DoD pay, I only get taxed on the benefits I use, like housing.

I'm living a pretty good life when other people my age are wasting 4 years of their life racking up debt and making 60k right out of college when I have been making more than them for 4 years.

I am pretty damn sure that the Iraqis were happy to have someone other than Sadam in charge. People in those countries are excited America is coming because they think it's a positive change, and in most cases it is. When we sent Marines over to Africa for Restore Hope, they were there to feed people and establish a stable government that wasn't mowing them down with machine guns.

People in third-world countries are simple-minded, when we began military operations to take down Saddam, the people thought that meant they were getting color TVs and free cars. Establishing a stable government has increased the standard of living though, but they will always live in the Stone Age.

Their culture doesn't require the governments to live in the stone age or starve their people. I know Muslims and Slams that live here in the US and still follow their religons.

People join the military for many reasons. Most of them are uninformed or don't know what they are getting into. Doesn't change the fact that the US military has done horrible things at the behest of politicians.

It is very clear, that the people that are uninformed didn't speak up or ask someone else's opinion, for example, on open contracts. I am currently on a guaranteed contract, so it matters. It is all very clear and out there. So to say "Most of them are uninformed or don't know what they are getting into." is completely false, it is illegal to lie about job postings and offerings. It is very, very clear and has been for 20-30 years.
