No. Any subsidy is paid by taxpayers. Adding inn layers of government overhead makes it more expensive in the long run to the taxpayer

The reduction in oil demand will be offset by the increase in demand on the electrical grid. You know, the electrical grid that, in some areas, can't meet the existing demand let alone an increased demand and that, in most areas, are powered by fossil fuels.

Nuclear/wind/solar/hydro can make plenty of electric. We will never eliminate oil for use in many areas including fuel. But we can reduce our dependence on it, which will reduce our need to import oil. Keep the dollars here in the USA.

I have been here since 2015 actually under various names and I have seen "Stan Halen's" (assuming that is the Stan you mentioned?) name but have never engaged with them.  I am not on here nearly as much as some people.

I've always been "all of the above". My point, which you touched on slightly, is that neither the grid itself (regardless of what's powering it) nor all the renewables that we currently (see what I did there) have can meet the demand if every car and truck in the country suddenly switched to electric overnight. Why so much resistance (see what I did there again)? Watts the problem (see what I did there once again)?

Yes, to your original comment about subsidies, if we give subsidies for people to buy electric vehicles that will increase demand while supply stays the same (or decreases) which means prices will only go up.

We subsidize the fossil fuel industry.  Gas cars are over 100 years old. If they still need subsidies the electric vehicle can be subsidized for 100 years or so as well.

So weird how much people hate a type of car. Like hating on diesels. Lol electric is a fuel with multiple sources. Gas and diesel has one source: oil. Don’t want a diesel? Don’t buy one. Don’t want an EV? Don’t buy one.

I never said I hated the ev.

It isn’t practical yet for most people as they can’t go far enough charging stations. 

Most of the components to make the car are made in foreign countries, including China.

Where do you live? Because where I live, there aren’t any charging stations. 

Not everyone lives in NYC, SF, or LA
