Isn't California's economy three times bigger than Florida's?

it used to be, but CA's economy has been shrinking extremely rapidly since the pandemic, while Florida's economy is increasing largely due to influx of businesses and people moving to Florida during the same time period.

well, by most economic measures, Florida's economy is doing much better than other states like California. Florida has had a record influx of people moving to Florida and record amount of businesses incorporating in Florida, while CA has had net loss of over 1 million people leave CA since 2020 along with trillions of dollars of business cap leave CA.

Ok. California still has double the population of Florida though. In fact, y'all have yet to name even one metric where Florida is doing better.

The people for starters. Add in no state income tax. Not as many BS gas rules that drives the cost up. Having an actual 2 party system. More reasonable gun laws, Able to buy ammo online without jumping through a gazillion hoops. The list is long

Having a big economy doesn't mean its a better economy, doesn't mean the people in that economy are doing better (hell, most here aren't even doing "good") than other states. If it's such a good economy, why are there so many homeless there compared to other states? Shouldn't a big economy be able to lift them out of homelessness? I have no clue what state you live in, but it's painfully obvious you have swallowed the golden bear kool-aid.

California has the 5th largest economy ON EARTH. At $3.4 trillion (that means a lot of digits), it's the biggest in the USA, bigger than even NY by 60%.

Florida's economy is driven by tourism. Take away bogeyman Disney and the beaches of Miami, and those alligator farm tourist traps ain't gonna do much to keep that laggard afloat. In fact, Florida is a taker state, taking more from the Federal Gov't than it puts in.

Poor people flock to prosperous states for a reason. In fact, Florida is known for putting its homeless on buses with a one way ticket to places like California or New York. And yet with living being far cheaper to live there, you don't see droves of poor folks moving there, now do you?

Jealousy is hungry beast, let its teeth sink in you, and it will take you down. Like that welfare state dangling off the edge of the other welfare/Red/Bible/Southern States, Florida.

Jealous of what? I live in California. I know what a Shithole it is and what a lie they are trying to pass onto everyone that is fortunate enough not to live here.

Have you driven on any California roads...they have potholes big enough for homeless people to live in.
A state that is 2.4 times the size of Florida should have more people, but with that 5th largest economy the homeless/Poverty population should be minimal. Maybe that economy isn't helping most of the people in the state.

California's poverty rate is 12.58%.

Florida's is 13.34%.

So, since 13.34 is a bigger number than 12.58.....
