False Equivalence fallacy. The right really needs to stop this b/c it just make you look as dumb as the climate change left.
You can't dumb down the definition of vaccine. Covid vaccine is closer to a flu shot than a rabies vaccine. The difference? Rabies virus is much more specific and remains so through time than typical flu or cold, which mutates rapidly. This is why YES you can still catch a flu even if you have taken a flu shot. Why? Because the flu shot only targets previous variations and used to boost immune system to fight off new variants. It is not guaranteed.
Why is the mRNA so ineffective? Because Covid, aka Wuhan Plague, is a man made altered version of the SARS virus, a weaponized version. This is why it leaves some carriers with no symptoms to make it harder to stop and easier to spread. It mutates at an unnatural rate, unseen in natural viruses.
mRNA targets specific protein, it is like a smart missile or a smart tactical drone. The problem is the virus mutate too quickly and too easily so it cannot target new variations as easily. This is why new vaccines, such as one created by Novavax, will be made in the traditional way like common flu vaccine to enhance the immune system and better at targeting variants.
The mRNA was experimental and thus we learned quite a bit about it now, how it is ineffective in such circumstances on a fast mutating unnatural virus. However, it doesn't mean it was wrong because at the time in the beginning, it was a real pandemic and the Delta variant was deadly. When it broke out in Wuhan, they ran out of body bags. And in Europe? During the Delta outbreak, Italy ran out of body bags too. That was how deadly it was.
The new omicron variant transmit faster but is much much weaker, symptoms are nothing more than a common cold. So yes, the pandemic is over, there really is no reason to keep the hype up. Future vaccinations should just be included in a common flu shot available to anyone who wants it.
The problem with this whole thing from the start was the left weaponizing the pandemic for their own cause. No one should be forcing people to vaccinate, that is unethical and the efficacy of the vaccine is irrelevant. Would you say if the vaccine is 100% with 0 side effects, then it is OK for the government to force the populace to take it? No, that would STILL be unethical.
Problem with the right, much like the left, is they get consumed by the political hatred that they can't think anymore. They react.
