I didn't say it was just being empathetic, I said empathy was a better source of morality than the Bible. I base my morality on a foundation of well-being. If something generally contributes to well-being, I would say it's likely moral. If something generally gets in the way of well-being, I would say it's likely immoral.
The Bible has none of that. The Bible is just based on following orders, regardless of how evil or harmful they are to other people.
