I don't know about parental leave, since those who get abortions don't want, or can't afford, to be parents anyhow.
The discussion of parental leave is a separate issue from abortion. I'm not against parental leave, but that's a separate discussion.
However, pregnancy can be an unpleasant process and can render a person incapable of supporting themselves for several months. Admittedly not everyone's pregnancy is the same. IF (and this is if) we are going to force people to endure this process they do need to be supported through it financially.
My opinion is that the main purpose of an abortion should be to prevent the continuation of the pregnancy. As such, it should be done as early in the pregnancy as possible. Ideally when it can be achieved with drugs rather than surgery.

I'm not for giving welfare to a lazy 20 year old who lives in his parents basement and refuses to work but I am for letting a new mother who legitimately needs government assistance so she can take care of her new born baby, one can't exactly juggle one's job and take care of their baby at the same time.

Also if a woman is being paid to have her baby, she can afford to be a stay at home wife and mother to her husband and children. I also believe a working man should be paid a livable wage so he can take care of his wife and kids.
