I'm telling you. Teach school children about firearms safety and financial responsibility and get rid of bullshit identity based learning and America will be strong, or any country who does.

The founders created a government and a system for a moral people with a clear underdog what is right and what is wrong. Now people are confusing these two fundamental truths in the next generations heads.

I think it's the mental state of this generation of kids. Shootings didn't happen anywhere near as often back then (and neither did kidnapping children), so clearly there's a problem with how people are being raised and what they're being taught if this is just becoming a thing now. What I'm still trying to figure out is what was different between then and now. Was it respect, was it the culture, was it that better character was more common back then (which definitely is true)? It also could be that parents don't have much to do with their kids' lives anymore. The kid that did the Boston shooting legit bragged about how his parents know nothing about him and how he intentionally manipulates them to think he's someone he's not.

Yes the absence of values and right and wrong is bleeding this country out. You can’t teach kids that there are no absolute right and wrong actions and then expect people to be surprised when they shoot up a school.

yeah, seriously if there's no right and wrong, then what's "wrong" with "the right"? What's "evil" about anything or anyone?

Most of the comments here are right & true. Aside from the current absence of religious & moral values, I think the most drastic downfall between now and then is that back then, a huge segment of the population was'nt on DRUGS! Both prescription and otherwise... Would be a good idea to end all prescribed psych drugs- especially for kids.

Aside, there are a lot more mentally I’ll kids these days… why? A lot of it has to do with the family unit and the culture of encouraging broken families. Divorce is so regular that its almost excepted as a probability when/if a couple gets married. Divorce used to be an extreme measure for abuse, not on a whim “I just don’t like you anymore” it messes kids up. The school system messes kids up too.

I’m going to have to disagree on that. Morals and mental health drugs are not related. However there is a high suicide rate for people on those drugs. As with any drug your body builds up a tolerance and the crash is harder every time. The lows get lower and they never reach that initial first hi ever again
