You know that would also include cannons and machine guns aka “assault weapons”, right? Pretty sure a cannon can do a lot more damage than my 9mm or 12 gauge. Plus if the Founding Fathers meant the weapons of their time, they would have specified that in the Second Amendment or in a later amendment. Technology advances, and while I doubt the Founding Fathers could ever even begin to fathom weapons such as fighter jets or nukes, to suggest that they didn’t think technology would advance is just pure incompetence on your part to actually study the issue at best and straight out malicious lying at worst.

I am sure that the Founders imagined that technology would advance. I think they’d be more surprised to learn that, in too many ways, our habits of thinking failed to advance along with it.

I believe it’s tetsuoswrath you’re thinking of. I won’t go as far as tets on that issue but as the Second Amendment is written, there’s nothing preventing citizens from owning nukes. I do think we should be able to own any conventional weapons or vehicles the military is allowed to own though like tanks, fighter jets, aircraft carriers, or submarines.
