“Sweden did better than USA with covid death per capita without Fauci’s advice. The USA should have gotten a second opinion.”
First, we have a population that’s 31 times as large as Sweden. And we have almost 20 times more majorly populated cities than they do. In fact, the highest populated city in Sweden is Stockholm with something like 1.5 million people.
Many of Sweden’s cities posted safety recommendations; masks, social distancing, etc; and still advised much of the population to stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Some schools closed if outbreaks exceeded record numbers but they did this on a case by case basis. Enough of the population respected these recommendations without the need to criminalizing those who failed to adhere them.
Sweden is also one of the few countries that is now 100% vaccinated, and the US is still only about 66% vaccinated.
Compared to the US, while Sweden has certainly done marginally better, it’s also clear they took the pandemic much more seriously than the US ever did.
The more radical element of Sweden was their anti-mask stance which lasted until December of 2020. At which point recommendations for those over 75 were made as well as people who work in places of more than 50 people. And they did this when their cases begin to spike suddenly in the winter of that year.
So, in a way… yeah, they DID follow the advice of their health experts. They just went about enforcing it differently.
They didn’t just pretend it wasn’t a threat or didn’t exist; like millions of Americans and their representatives did here.
