but equally true of the way they're representing love -- the whole message does seem to suggest that love is something that happens pretty much between well off, conventionally attractive, physically fit, thin young people who mostly exemplify gender norms, the girls are virgins or sexually inexperienced, knowing each other is sort of optional beforehand . . . there's a lot they're teaching our kids.
And if we're going to point a finger at them also teaching that some couples might be of the same sex, we should also look at the messages that show up in most of their movies. None of those messages is wrong, but love can also happen between older people, disabled people, people who aren't obviously acting their gender . . .
