"The fact that they openly support LGBTQ equality should make it pretty obvious that they're not okay with LGBTQ people being murdered"
If that's true (and for goodness sake, everyone should feel that way) then their corporate activity should reflect that belief by NOT doing business in countries that openly tolerate murder of LGBTQ individuals. As is always the case Octavia, actions speak louder than words. So just saying they're against it means nothing unless they're willing to forego some revenue to back it up.
"He opposes LGBTQ equality in general, so that does cause harm to the community because it perpetuates bigotry and bullying."
This may be true, but as usual Octavia, you don't support what you claim. So not having witnessed him say or do anything that would validate this, I am skeptical. But as always, I'm open minded on the subject and willing to be educated about where he stands. So you may be right..
"The law was literally just signed. How do you know what it will do in the future? And we know that many conservatives are more than willing to assault LGBTQ people."
Here, with that second sentence, I think you're displaying ignorance and your own biases against conservatives. Not being a conservative, I can't speak for them, but I know quite a few and none are "more than willing to assault LGBTQ people." Haven't you learned it's dangerous to generalize like that? I know sometimes liberals seem to need to put people into little identity boxes so they can be unfairly judged and treated, so that may be hampering you on this one. But still, come on, man! I know you're smarter than to generalize like that.
