Biden was hoping to get help from the Saudis. He wanted them to pump more to help ease prices, but they wouldn't talk to him. They called him out on the hypocrisy of blaming them for the destruction of the climate and then later asking them for a favor.

Also Permits do not mean oil. But what do I know I was actually in Houston where they used gamma and neutron emitters to check the ground to see if there is oil or gas worth drilling. Hell I give them a permit on my land to drill oil on my land. As long as they paid me. 1. We're the biggest consumers of oil on the planet. And for the record, I've been for a combination of getting the cheapest oil from wherever and doing things to reduce our oil consumption as much as possible long before Biden was a candidate and even before Putin was in control of Russia. I'm actually somewhat surprised alleged "conservatives" seem to want us to burn up own oil up before everyone else's. I will say that it would be convenient for the US to have some sort of back up production which could be quickly taken on or offline just in case but moving on....

2. We're a global economy. If we didn't engage in trade with other countries such as Russia, the prices here would be even higher than they are and we would have found ourselves having nothing to punish Russia with non-militarily.

3. Biden's policy of cutting off Russian oil made oil prices jump, sure... But I thought that was what y'all wanted? You seem to just talk sh*t either way. Biden buys oil from Russia (as we have been doing for decades) = complain about us giving them $$...... Biden stops buying oil from Russia = complain about the corresponding rise in oil prices.

4. Permits do not equal oil. Fair enough.
