"Yeah, like when Biden said “you ain’t black” on Charlemagne’s show if you don’t vote for him. It was basically an inartful brag about the fact he was on track to win 90%+ of the black vote, which he did."
A statement the substance of which itself is racist, categorizing and reducing people to a mere block and assuming he had them in his pocket.
Hillary made that same mistake as well, ironically backfiring on her in 08 with her "we's be talking" jive talk complete w/accent in frot of slect audiences and oozing that overly assured notion that somehow folks thought Obama was 'less black' than her. She took demographics based on ethno/race and regions/states for granted as well in 2012, costing her that election.
Biden's VP, SCOTUS picks - these are strategic moves, basic pandering which can be looked at as rather cold crass calculations rather than sincere and for the right reasons.
Ain't saying Biden's anywhere near as bad as Trump, and given the choice, making such selections and appointments for points is preferable to someone making none at all except for the sake of pointing people out for purposes of fear mongering and dog whistles. But apologies do not erase a history that wasn't so much on the plus side in terms of statements and decisions and stances stemming from a mindset that leaned more towards Trump's not too long ago.
