I don’t know anyone making $7.25/hr. Many states have minimums over that amount. So many unskilled jobs now start way over that. Local gas station/food mart paying $20/hr for clerks to start.

States and the free market have made the Fed min wage obsolete.

Then you haven’t lived in the south, Midwest, or rural America. Sure states have raised the minimum wage to 8 or 9 dollars, but after taxes take home pay is still under the poverty line.

I looked in five states in the South and Midwest. General labor, customer service, food beverage hospitality. Lowest paying job was $10 an hour, most were all 12 to 15 per hour.

Try living in Georgia or Wyoming, and work for the small business owner who is subject to paying 7.25 but can choose to pay as little as 5.25 according to their state minimum wage requirements.

Those jobs paying less than minimum wage are TIPPED jobs, usually in restaurants. Hourly paid PLUS tips must be equal to or greater than the minimum wage. And it usually is greater, commonly quite greater. Servers and bartenders generally take home much more than the minimum hourly wage.

The bar is set so low in Wyoming and Georgia that most minimum wage workers are paid 7.25, ask someone who works in these states what they get paid an hour when working for a small grocery store, or ma pa gas station.

Anybody that works at a job paying that little is living in the dark ages. All one had do is look on craigslist and find something that pays more. It’s not rocket science.

Non corporate shops, the little guy business. We're talking the jobs old people are stuck in at the local grocery store. I know it has changed but you must have missed the documentary. Still after taxes are taken out your making around minimum wage. I'm not going to take the time to calculate that out for you.

If the wage isnt above $10 an hour, the gas isnt that high neither, as the economy simply could not afford it. Your claims are exaggerated.

You are trying to get full retail on your trade in, and pay wholesale cost on the new car.

You can still buy a couple gallons of gas for the cost of a pint of beer. And a pint is 1/8 of a gallon.
