No. It doesn't.

Dyslexics literally think faster than so-called "normal people" do. That's the root of where that mixing things up comes from. We're thinking at such a fast pace that the world outside of our minds can't keep up.

Frankly, there are a lot of things about "normal" people that dyslexics find baffling.

Like how long it takes you to figure things out. Like understanding how a President doesn't set the price of gas.

But you'll get there. One day. With a lot of work.

Sadly, you're stuck with this idea that it's a "learning disability." That's normal for neuro-typical people. You don't really understand something right away and have trouble discarding previously accepted (and wrong) doctrine. You should spend a lot more time reading and thinking about it so you can work through the steps.

Let's look at the memorization thing. We don't memorize things because we "get" the idea behind it and can apply it broadly.

While you're still working through remembering step 3, a dyslexic has already completed it in their head and is waiting for you to catch up. Got bored. And wandered off to think about more interesting things because you just got to step 5.

Like the delay in speech. I had that as a kid too. From my perspective, I was talking about a lot of stuff. But people couldn't understand what I was saying. It sounded like nonsense to them. My oldest son had that same thing (he too is dyslexic). His pediatrician explained it like this "He's thinking about a lot of stuff, and trying to say it all at once. Get him to slow down and focus on short phrases and it will sort itself out."

And that really clicked for me because I went through that same experience. i had to slow down. Use smaller words. So the adults. Could. Understand. Me.

We focused on that with him, and what do you know? Delayed no more.

No. You see, part of dyslexia is having a high level of understanding other people's circumstances.

So it's easy for us to understand how a social benefits net will improve the lives of people, and thus improve their prospects and how that has a positive impact on things like the economy.

And it's really easy to understand how President's don't impact the price of gas.
