A "distinction" without a difference.

They are like centre-left and want a mixed economy. Not really socialist.

Hardly. If someone like Bernie got what he truly wanted (meaning what he'd never admit... so yes, I'm speculating) we'd see full on socialism or communism.

"Democratic socialists" pretend to believe in freedom, just not personal freedom.

How the f**k do I get accused of logical fallacies when you’re admitting you’re assuming Bernie wants full communism.

Don't ask me. I never accused you of that.

Besides, read what I wrote again, this time carefully.

I fully disclosed that I was speculating.

Settle down! You almost seem... triggered.

Oh, an oxymoron.. . . like military-intelligence or a good-NAZI or a compassionate-Marxist..

How is it a contradiction lol? Do you honestly believe capitalism and democracy are compatible?

Only someone willfully ignorant of history (or perhaps trolling on imgflip) would believe otherwise (or try to claim otherwise.)

Let's see . . . is this the greatest nation in the entire history of humanity? Why yes, yes it is . . . and all because this is a constitutional republic -- NOT a democracy -- and because lightly regulated capitalism is the most consistently powerful economic engine in the world.

No. 1 in prison population, incarceration rate, income inequality, obesity, police shootings, and last in worker benefits and universal healthcare. So why is it the “greatest” in the “entire history of humanity” exactly? Because your parents told you that as a kid?

So you thinking voting isn’t democratic at all?

Capitalism is causing rising impoverishment everywhere the system is in place, along with the worst inequality in history. It’s a failure, bud. And it’s causing climate apocalypse and death everywhere.

Oh snap! I forgot that GOOD socialists adore Venezuela and Good Marxist adore the Old Soviet Union . . . brutal authoritarianism, starvation, and death camps and hell on Earth existence notwithstanding.

Are you not even going to try to defend the “greatest nation in the entire history of humanity”? Where whistleblowers exposing the corruption of the government are tried under the Espionage Act, where political prisoners are tortured, and the nation is completely under surveillance down to every smartphone, and police enter peoples’ homes without their notice in the fight against Terror? Doesn’t sound authoritarian at all!

Not all communists subscribe to Marxism-Leninism and were happy about the Soviet model. Anarchists such as myself were less than thrilled.

Hahahaha! Leftists are fun . . . because they actually BELIEVE their Marxist political propaganda.

It’s obvious that you don’t have a real response.

Vietnam is socialist and even the capitalist global institutions are astounded at their recent economic progress. Cuba beats us in a number of ways, in healthcare, literacy, life expectancy, etc. Cuba has been described as the most "sustainably developed country in the world". Still, I prefer the decentralized communism like the Zapatistas practice in Chiapas to democratic centralism.

A system that permits people to starve and go homeless amidst abundance is an abject failure. Capitalism allows everyone to struggle except the richest 1%. Read a book, seriously, because it wasn't like this before capitalism. Many examples of people being forced into capitalist production, in some cases because the subsistence lifestyle was preferable than offered wages.
