You are aware that this is the internet, which means not only those that reside in the U.S.A. use this site. Many on this site are Canadian, which means this affects them directly.
Also, since many look to other countries as examples of what we "should" be, it behooves us to pay attention to what happens in other countries so that hopefully we can prevent, or at least prepare for, similar stuff here.
