The head of Indianapolis-based insurance company OneAmerica said the death rate is up a stunning 40% from pre-pandemic levels among working-age people.

“We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business – not just at OneAmerica,” the company’s CEO Scott Davison said during an online news conference this week. “The data is consistent across every player in that business.”

OneAmerica is a $100 billion insurance company that has had its headquarters in Indianapolis since 1877. The company has approximately 2,400 employees and sells life insurance, including group life insurance to employers nationwide.

Davison said the increase in deaths represents “huge, huge numbers,” and that’s it’s not elderly people who are dying, but “primarily working-age people 18 to 64” who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.

“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”

Davison was one of several business leaders who spoke during the virtual news conference on Dec. 30 that was organized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Most of the claims for deaths being filed are not classified as COVID-19 deaths, Davison said.

"The data is consistent across every player in that business.”

Ok, so he has reported an observation, based on factual data.

Would you rather the caise of death be covid, so you know, the hospital is eligible for that magical bonus everyone keeps talking about?

What kind of insurance do you think he's talking about when he said:

Not too bright are ya?

"Not covid", is a very strange thing to file for a death claim. I am asking what deaths they are filing for?

Are you sure, you're here to debate or are you just here to insult?

It seems to me that it really seems important to you to disprove a fact.

Facts don't care about your feelings.

I was able to comprehend the CEO's statement to the press... Maybe you need a comprehension class?

My comprehension is just fine.

You're stating that a CEO of an insurance company has said that he's witnessed a 40% increase in life insurance claims which is significant as even a 10% increase is a 1 in 200 year catastrophe. Which seems relevant to my assertion that overall the death rate IS up which seems to indicate that the overall abnormal increase of 400,000 deaths seems to corollate and perhaps corroborate that Covid does exist by at least the numbers alone.

Further adding the part where he says most (forgoing an actual percentage - meaning it's anywhere between 1-49%) have not been due to Covid.

Nor do I know what percentage of Americans who've died have that specific insurance.

It hardly refutes my initial claim nor does it prove that covid doesn't exist.

It does... because he's a CEO of a MAJOR company in the insurance industry... something you missed in the text... OOPS

Cold and flu in the us for the last 10 years have only killed 12,000 to 52,000 people in a year.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

Total deaths in the US per year have also climbed exponentially.

2010, total deaths 2,468,435
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr61/nvsr61_04.pdf

2011, total deaths 2,515,458 (1.9% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr63/nvsr63_03.pdf

2012, total deaths 2,543,279 (1.1% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr63/nvsr63_09.pdf

2013, total deaths 2,596,993 (2.1% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr64/nvsr64_02.pdf

2014, totals deaths 2,626,418 (1.1% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr65/nvsr65_04.pdf

2015, total deaths 2,712,630 (3.3% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr66/nvsr66_06.pdf

2016, total deaths 2,744,248 (1.2% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr67/nvsr67_05.pdf

2017, total deaths 2,813,503 (2.5% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr68/nvsr68_09-508.pdf

2018, total deaths 2,839,205 (0.9% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr69/nvsr69-13-508.pdf

2019, total deaths 2,854,838 (0.6% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db395-H.pdf

2020, total deaths 3,358,814 (17.7% increase from last year)https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7014e1.htm

2020 saw the highest death rate increase in ten years by 17.7% The highest percentage before that was 3.3%... if we were to take the previous years total deaths (2,854,838) and subtract that by the second highest average increase of 3.3% (94,210), that means we're left with a significant increase in deaths by 409,766 deaths!

According to the CDC, we had about 375,000 deaths attributed to Covid in 2020.

I find it very unlikely that 409,766 died from uncured illnesses...

Unless, again, that uncured illness was Covid.

You're going to have to account for more than just 20,000 OD, and 350,000 people afraid to go to hospital. That just isn't going to cut it.

You have 400,000 odd deaths attributed to a new disease and an unusual increase of 400,000, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to spot the correlation.

No, they don't. Some comorbidities can be pre-existing conditions, yes. But not all.

And there those who did have significant pre-existing conditions could've live much longer if they haven't had caught covid.

In other words, as I already stated, those comorbidities have had a significant increase in overall mortality rates as well...

Your comment does not refute my statement, nor add anything to the discussion.

You seem to assume that if someone dies with comorbidities then they did not die from covid.

This is a false assumption.

This is a false assumption... Countries in Europe have had to correct their death tolls for this

No... you stated lies... those were not facts... just because the government says something doesn't make it true...
0 ups, 3y
The data does not come from the government. They're compiled from several sources, checked and verified. Just because you have a very generalized mistrust the government doesn't make the data false or not a fact.
