A racist Democrat President signed it into law with ulterior motives.

They'd seen the damage federal 'benevolence' had done on Indian reservations. As always, whenever the democrats see how something is ruining people's lives, they take it nationwide!

No links policy.

Wait, did I see NIXON?
If you were anywhere near this side of the planet, you would've known that LBJ was President in 1964. Nixon was in 1974, a decade later.

Good grief, ain't yous heard of Nixon in Aussielandia?

A guy who frequently used the n word, said "we'll have those n****rs voting Democrat for 200 years", lamented losing the South to the Republicans after signing the Civil Rights act bc he didn't see it coming? He never cared about black people; he was just trying to get votes.

He was a racist and his only motivation to sign the bill was for the black vote.

THe "200 years" quote first appeared in a book in 1995. For 31 years prior, it never existed.

LBJ not only signed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts into law, he pushed the Democrats to vote for them, something the GOP wasn't quite doing and on the list of all the things JFK was supposed to get around to one day but was too busy not keeping his other promises to everyone else to do...

Wasn't this explained to you or one of your alts the other day?

Come on, Octavia. This is beyond common knowledge. LBJ was racist on an epic scale. He didn't even try to hide it.

Fair enough. But also when his racism is pointed out, to reply in a way that doesn't seem to acknowledge or take into account in any way what a racist SOB he really was, and what his true motivations likely may have been, is at a minimum misleading (assuming you're being truthful with your reply, which I am assuming) and possibly disingenuous.

Not good enough. You needed your replies to include that. I spoze better late than never applies here, but just barely.

And of course you'll conveniently ignore that Democrats held the nation's longest filibuster for 75 days to attempt to prevent the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act so you can praise a Democrat for passing a law Democrats fought to prevent.

Around and around we go. Praise LBJ all you want, it does nothing to change the FACT Democrats fought against 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Wait a minute, are you talking about the "That little girl was me" shot heard round the whirl?
Or is this where you say she's a Caucasoid so therefore she made that up?

Pick a storyline and stick with it.

Your historical illiteracy is, well, hysterical.

Raised in Canada but segregated busing in California? Dang, that is one long daily round bus trip,,,

Hyena Harris moved to Montreal at the age of 12. Your sense of humor is not hysterical and best described as pathetic.

So she's not Oaklandian? Maybe we can get Commie Donnie on the case and boot her back to Kenya!

My humor? If you 'think' (for lack of a better term) that's humor, that's on you.
Nice comeback, btw, wish I came up with it

- oh, wait, that's right, I did.

You’ll conveniently leave out that it was Strom Thurmond, who defected to the GOP.
