Lol. I didn't even go to college and make 90 grand a year. I do appreciate that many liberals are satisfied pouring my coffee though. We need people to do those jobs too.

Then they should be paid a living wage.

What, exactly, is a "living wage"?

Enough money to buy weed and video games while enjoying a nice apartment overlooking an elementary school playground. lol

You want a living wage? Then be worth it. If you aren't skilled at anything, then don't insult those of us that are by saying you're worth the same, cause you're not.

So I have to be worthy enough to capitalism in order to afford the things I need to survive? That’s some serf shit.

If you expect my employer to pay you the same as me, and you can't do shit but flip burgers...then you got another thing coming. You want more money..all ya gotta do is be better. Why is that a problem? We aren't the same so we don't get the same pay. Why should you get the same as me when I put in the effort to be good at what I do? Your self worth and what others are willing to pay are two different things. Serfdom and Capitalism aren't the same systems.

You mean like 'essential workers'? You mean like the labor shortage the big crybabies are wailing about now because they have to pay the same amount that they had to EGADS! pay two decades ago to maintain their obesity? The same that threatens our food supply with diminishing amounts?

So some gelationous fartbag who doodles away on Facebook all day pretending they're doing something (the average office worker spends 80% of their workday on social media or playing video games) is worth MORE than someone whose job is literally worth your life? Cool.

People get paid what they agreed to get paid for. That's not really hard to figure out. A lot of people don't like the current pay and are not applying for jobs...that lack of demand is causing employers to up their pay to fill the positions. That's not hard to figure out either. That's how the market should work, and is. But, to demand someone pay you enough to support a family in oh lets say NY, where the cost of living is crazy,...I don't know...is someone flipping burgers gonna get six figures a year just because they live in an expensive area? Seems like those burgers would get so high no one would buy them, resulting in a closed business and unemployed people. It's more complicated than that I know. People that think their first non-skilled job should be a career, are the problem here. There's just no motivation to move up, they want the ceiling to come to them rather than expend the effort to climb a f**king ladder. It took me a long time to get out of the welfare mindset, and even longer to break free from that system. I don't have a lot of patience for those who just want to be there.

People who are standing on their feet for an entire shift or two hardly have the welfare mindset. And people have been know to expect raises and promotions on occasion.

Motivation, desire, ability, and being able to go places aren't necessarily the same thing.
78% of all jibs are gotten throught someone you know, and we all know that worker who is asked to do everything including training new arrivals how to be their supervisor while they go nowhere.

People with comfy sit down jobs who spend the aforementioned 80% of their hours playing online are the ones holding out for better jobs and pay, preferably at home where they can tack even more hours to social media. Welfare mindset, nope, not them at all, they know how to make decent cash while fapping away in bed.

By welfare mindset, I mean the idea that success should find me, like if I just work at this menial job, I should eventually make enough to get by even though the position will never pay that. That's really where I was and a lot of my friends just had this idea that we deserved more pay for menial jobs. I had a guy I met at a bar offer me a whole different outlook when he asked me if I was afraid of work. It pissed me off at first, but he told me I could double my pay by walking out of my job and grabbing a shovel, so I did. Went from minimum wage to 15 an hour within 6 months, now I'm over 40 an hour. That just doesn't click for a lot of the people I grew up with. My boss...he's on here...and he's the 80% guy you were talking about. lol. But he came up poor too.

Well, glad to hear you were able to aim higher and do well.
Much continued success to you and your family.

I like chickens. Folks on my mother's side had them.

A shovel?
Not to take anything away from you - I dig for free myself - but most folks do categorize that as menial - which is the point I'm making, how other look down on that when they shouldn't.

Refreshing to hear someone doesn't raise chickens for their wife's at home business since they've retired from their military nuclear scientist job as most of our fiddling-all-day-here-while-at-work colleagues all seem to be, complaining about them city folks.

Well, I don't use a shovel now, but it got me started in this industry. And, it was entry level labor, but it paid double what I had been making and allowed me to afford benefits. But the main thing was, there was a higher ceiling, a place to move up to. I run several crews now, and have a girl in college. Arby's was never going to do that for me, and I don't think it was ever supposed to. IMO It just took an old friend to beat some sense into me. One day I might get some chickens so I fit in better around here. Then I need to wash some of this black off me. ha!

Yet they can afford the new iPhone14 and pay primo bucks for CoD 8 after camping out on line awaiting release day made tolerable with a steady stream of $5 Ventis and riot on Black Friday for a $785 Samsuck fartscreen at Walmart that cost $150 less the week before? Sucks real bad that Medicaid limits how much medical 420 they can tote for the resulting aggravation of their early 20s sciatic glaucoma, huh?

Don’t forget eating tide pods. Because that’s exactly what every single person of this generation does. Every one of them. Plus everything you mentioned there. It’s all bad financial decisions, nothing to do with rent, medical or student loan debt.

If you have a good work ethic and educate yourself, you're more likely to fall somewhere in the middle and be forced to take care of the losers that post memes saying you can't do it.

There's also another side of capitalism that's not being talked about here and that who has the purchasing power. In a capitalist economy it's the consumer that makes the decision of whether to buy Product A, Product B, neither, or both.
Also for capitalism to work there must be checks and balances and rules and laws that must be enforced so it doesn't turn into something like an oligarchy or monopoly. The US faced the monopoly problem with the Robber Barons of the late 19th/early 20th century and were stopped when Teddy Roosevelt put a stop to it. Socialism and communism on the other hand doesn't have much of a moral center(if any at all) so it doesn't run unchecked. Communist countries like the Soviet Union and China are prime examples of an economic model that has no limitations.
0 ups, 3y
That's not Capitalism, that's Corporatism, or what Righties like to (deliberately erroneously) call, Socialism, Communism, and Marxism.

Also not true. Productivity has steadily increased since the 70s, yet this generation earns less than their parents.
[deleted]
2 ups, 3y,

Parents didn't carry around 1000 dollar iPhones, drive new cars they couldn't afford, and bitch about not having money. I easily earn double what my parents earned, live in a house 4 times the size of the one I grew up in, and have successfully put two kids through college who are now making as much as me. Those who want to succeed, do. Those that complain about the system, never engage and thus, make up the numbers of losers sucking the life out of the economy. Yeah...on average the younger generation has more losers than their parents' generation, which accounts for the lower standard of living. It's only those Millenials and Zoomers that ignore the call to victimhood that actually make a good living.

F**k those poors sucking the life out of the economy. Unlike the rich who keep it all to themselves. They earned it, derrr!!!!

I have a $200-400 iPhone. I don’t own my car and it was made in 2013. I go to college because my grandfather pays for it. This means I also work part time. I barely earn enough to afford my own place.

Other countries literally pay rent for college students while they are attending, also for free. This country is absolute garbage. We created our own student loan crisis.

"F**k those poors sucking the life out of the economy."

That's the spirit! I knew we could agree on something!

No one owes you shit. You should be ashamed of taking your grandparent's money they worked hard for. I don't know how you missed it, but many state colleges and/or community colleges are practically free now when you put in the effort to sign up for all the available scholarships. I put two girls through college, but I didn't pay hardly any of it, because we made them spend the hours necessary to fill out the scholarship information and apply for grants. Maybe you should just move to one of these awesome countries that do everything for you because it seems you're not cut out for a country that you can be a success in.

Very slim shot at being a success in.*

Capitalism has corrupted people like crazy. People used to provide for one another, now individualism is a plague cast on too many. Scum like you won’t even provide for their own children.

Weird. You think I won't provide for my own children? Based on the fact that they are successful people in their own rights, that I taught them how to read, to write, and to think critically? Did I not sit down with them and explain how to make it through college and graduate debt free? I've provided more for my children than the majority of this country...and now they are grown and actively engaged in this country, producing rather than taking from it. They don't need my money or my help, because I taught them how to make their own way. I'm scum because of that? Their taxes are probably supporting your lazy ass right now. You think you're entitled to someone else's hard-earned money...you're the real scum in this conversation. You're a taker. I give of my earnings to charities, and to individuals as I see the need, especially around this time of year, so spare me your entitled bullshit...my taxes pay for all the additional shit I don't won't to support. We also tutor the children of our clients when they fall behind in school, because their grades half to be B's in above in order to take part in our program. When their grades fall, we tutor them until they're back up. My family is strong precisely because we provide for each other, and we help out others with our excess...something we couldn't do if you motherf**kers got your way and tried to take it all. No one owes you shit. It's people like you that are f**king up the system with your corrupt upbringing. Your parents didn't love you I guess, because somewhere they forgot to teach you this basic principle and thus set you up for failure. Just what the f**k have you done that makes you entitled to anyone else's income? Not one damn thing, yet you are on her whining about not getting other people's shit. Scum. Just plain old scum.

I give to those less fortunate...you take cause you think you deserve and you'll never be able to help the less fortunate...asshole move. And I grew up in a two-bedroom house in the hood. I know poverty first hand. I also know you don't have to stay there unless you just want to.

If you don't contribute...you're a taker, you take from others because you're too big a piece of shit to get out and work for a living. By definition...anyone who takes from others...is a taker, so why the tears?

You lash out because you know you're a piece of shit and don't have the balls to do anything about it. Revolution...lol. Read your history. The revolutionaries were the last to be shot when the elitists were done using their "useful idiot" selves to accomplish their task. You're just a pawn destined for a very disappointing death one day.

Ahh, that sweet sweet scent of putrified want necrotized by not getting those paltry selfish wishes granted despite the immense volume of sheer awesomeness that tends to be the hallmark of the those steeped in envy.

"Scum like you won’t even provide for their own children."

You said you depend on your grandfather for college payments. Did your parents not even provide for their own children?
You wish the state to provide for it, then criticize someone when they told you they got the state to do exactly that?

Fact is, that IS wrong, goverment should NOT offer grants and loans, as that is THE reason college tuition has been shyrocketing. Guarantee a supply of something, and folks only want to squeeze out more.
Same goes for medical care, rent... assure payment, and requests zoom because 0+1=1, and 0+1+1=2 and 0+1+1+1=...

Tell people to work for it if they want it - not gov't assistance, no grants, no loans (not even bank), no insurance - and you'll see prices go down in no time. You pay ol Doc Adams a chicken for a visit like they used to way back and only when they were really sick, not just an excuse for prescription for Oxys, and that economic disparity starts to narrow. It won't disappear - doctors and lawyers will still get paid higher because death isn't high on anybody's Santa list - but it will get less fluffed out.

Ask your grandfather what rent used to be when he was your age and there were no rent vouchers and Sect 8. You'd be amazed.

Walmart employs the most people today and gives an average wage of $10/hr. Ford used to employ the most with a wage that would be equivalent of $50+/hr today plus generous benefits. Stop believing capitalist bullshit.

Walmart doesn't produce anything and is made up of unskilled labor. Ford actually employs people at about 50 an hour today...because they are skilled. And they still have benefits...better than when Ford first started. There wasn't even health insurance back then. Walmart pays based on skill...if you work in one of their plants the starting pay is around 20 and goes up from there. If you want to stand around and look stupid while you stock shelves, then expect to get paid accordingly.
