That's right, the Andes), the Irish were forbidden from picking their other crops because those were reserved for their English overlords. Cows that roamed their fields, can't touch. Waterways were flush with salmon, can't touch.

As you know, the English - and other Europeans - did not - good gosh - consider Irish - so pale they can only partially tan and only in little spots - to be 'White' or Caucasian. In fact, they had even classified them as Africans.

Farmers have been heavily subsidized since the Dust Bowl. Stuff costs less to buy in the store than it actually costs to grow. That also goes for ethanol, which is only non-profitable, takes more petroleum fuel to produce from farm to product than it produces, again at taxpayer expense.

That subsidy, as you know, comes from Democrat/Blue/Northern States because the economy of the terminally moribund South has been sooooooooooo broken after losing their slaves on the War of Northern Aggression - not that it was raking it in much prior, as the contrast between developed North and backwater South was glaring even then - the actual real cause of the Civil War.

By definition, anything with a Carbon based atomic structure is organic.

Which includes all crops grown in the ground by farmers.

Organic, as it is used in terms of the food industry, means - see if you can follow here - minus non-organic chemicals. Those chemicals are subsidized too, btw. Agriculture grown sans them is more expensive, hence the extra cost.

Oh, there's a ripoff in higher added costs, alright, but that would be at the processing level, the companies that sell the final product, not the farmers - other than the additional subsidies they receive to grow them, which, as you know, ain't all that much.
