Organic, as it is used in terms of the food industry, means - see if you can follow here - minus non-organic chemicals. Those chemicals are subsidized too, btw. Agriculture grown sans them is more expensive, hence the extra cost.
Oh, there's a ripoff in higher added costs, alright, but that would be at the processing level, the companies that sell the final product, not the farmers - other than the additional subsidies they receive to grow them, which, as you know, ain't all that much.
