"we get the best electric cars in the world and a profit"
eyyy they cost the price of a house and still can't beat a honda accord in terms of mileage. although it's cool that he pulled off the proof of market for ev vehicles, electric cars still kinda suck because of the lithium ion batteries and the need to use tires. electric trains, on the other hand, draw power from a consistent supply and can carry more people overall. elon musk has tried to create the tesla roadster, an electric supercar with the 0-60 of less than 2 seconds. a croatian car manufacturer called Rimac beat him to the punch earlier this year.
musk is also responsible for claiming he invented stuff made before he was born. reusable rockets were tested by nasa long before spacex built them. then there was the hyperloop, which was a concept called the "vactrain" made by Goddard a century ago. so far, hyperloop can't prove anything, taking 8 years for two people to be transported at 160 km/h. the flying scotsman was traveling at that speed between london & edinburgh during the 20s using now-obsolete steam power. and maglev trains spent 1 year of development in order to carry people, and two years of development to reach 400 km/h; all that opposed to elon musk's / virgin's hyperloop with 8.
then there's the las vegas loop, which has all the limitations of the new york subway combined with the capacity of 2 buses in terms of how many people are moved per hour. truly a boondoggle if i've ever seen one.
elon musk wants to get into the electric trucking industry. however, his trucks prioritized sports car-style performance over carrying capacity, and given the weight of batteries compared to diesel tanks, it's safe to say that the tesla semi is not gonna happen anytime soon since large batteries are needed for long ranges.
then there's other failures: solar roof tiles, a fraudulent marketing scheme; the tesla robot, which was a mime in spandex and nothing more (personally i'm against the robot takeover); and the Earth-to-Earth Starship... and i can go on about that.
