Because, as a rule, leftists can't actually argue their case. All they generally know how to do is to repeat what they've been told and to argue from authority.
From an economic perspective, fascism is very left wing. They absolutely do not believe in private enterprise. Theoretically, the business owners run things, but they are under very tight government control. Personal freedom? Ah, yes, love those fascists' valuing personal freedom. As for nationalism and globalism, tradition over progressive ideals, from your perspective, literally every government on Earth at the time would have been on the fascist side of those issues.
